So if the OIC wants to gain credibility, this Gaza crisis is a huge opportunity to put an old idea in practice: OIC peacekeepers. Through the informal diplomatic channels that exist between Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Israel, it could be proposed to make Gaza an OIC protectorate under a peacekepping force that does not consist of Arab personnel for obvious reasons, but of soldiers from Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Malaysia. Nothing is to be expected any longer from the PLO regime in Ramallah and Oslo seems failed, so Gaza could as well go a separate way.
