Incidentally, UKIP is not alone in eschewing
the word “immigration”. “Migration” has systematically replaced it in EU legislative and political texts, partly due to the same widespread
reluctance to call an immigrant an immigrant, partly to the fact that some immigrants are more immigrant than others.

It makes misleading statements about UKIPs alleged xenophobia. It does not mention the widespread public dissatisfaction with the mainstream political parties. It does not mention the 2009 expenses scandal which profoundly discredited and already loathed political class. It does not mention the 2010 formation of the first coalition government for 75 years following an inconclusive general election in which the public showed little enthusiasm for any of the mainstream parties. It does not mention the British government falsifying evidence in order to secure consent for the Iraq war. It does not talk about the demographic trends, and the immigrant population figures given and highly debatable. It does not talk about the increasing gap between the political class and the British electorate.

The article makes the truly absurd claim that that UKIP carefully avoids the term “immigration”, when in fact immigration is now being widely discussed and features in the media and political discourse almost every day. The article even implies that Steven Wolfe is xenophobic without mentioning that he is of mixed race.

Please, don’t let this kind of cheap, shoddy, biased “journalism” guide your judgment.
