Rory McCarthy is a writer and researcher. He spent a decade as a foreign correspondent with The Guardian, with postings in Islamabad, Baghdad, Beirut and Jerusalem. He studied History at Cambridge and Modern Middle Eastern Studies at Oxford, and he is now completing a DPhil at Oxford on political Islam in Tunisia. He is the author of 鈥淣obody Told Us We Are Defeated,鈥� which explores the lives of Iraqis living under the US occupation.
