Miroslava Sawiris is a research fellow for the Democracy and Resilience Program at GLOBSEC Policy Institute, a think tank based in Bratislava, Slovakia. She has overseen research projects focusing on the impact of social media disinformation campaigns on electoral processes in Europe, including case studies on the 2019 Slovak presidential election, the 2019 European Parliament elections in V4 countries and the 2020 Slovak parliamentary elections. Her other areas of interest include societal transformation in the era of digital platforms and how this relates to democratization and backsliding. She holds a BA in Arabic and Russian Civilization from the University of Leeds and an MA in International Relations from the University of York, UK.
